One Glorious Moment

Let’s be honest for one second, much of life is drudgery, full of the mundane and apparently unspectacular duty. Isn’t it?

Patience is important if you wish to do anything great. Before you cut the ribbon on a magnificent building, hours of work have gone almost unnoticed, brick by brick, nail by nail, a kingdom is built one block at a time.

A solid structure requires hours of labor and there is joy to be found in the comradeship of building something together. Do not lose hope, life is filled up with a lot of mundane tasks and then a few incredibly rich glorious moments of conquering.

You can’t spend your life on top of a mountain, you just get to enjoy the view once and a while.

Respect for the Journey

How do we begin to respect life’s journey? Respect for the beginnings of life and its developing creativity, dream, vision, failures and process?

The notion of journey as a way to describe life’s progression is generous to start.  And yet it is the hardest thing to do, to simply allow who we are burgeoning into to unfurl.

Journey means that we get to go…somewhere, anywhere… to travel and make one’s way. Life is exciting and the terrain of the journey does not ever have to stay the same.

The journey becomes more adventurous, frightening yet fruitful when we strap ourselves in and simply (let) go…avoiding harming or interfering with its course.

Knowing Your Weakness

Everyone is weak and every single person on planet earth has blind spots. Think about it, unless you have eyes in the back of your head, you simply can’t see everything all the time.

If there is one thing that is very difficult for us to see, it is ourselves.

What’s your weakness? It’s probably something you (or I) don’t yet know about; marriages, families, close friendships, essentially relationships set free within the safety of commitment often reflect back to us the truth about ourselves, they show us the things that we cannot see.

Already, you are probably thinking about some negative flaw, some repetitive habit or a mood swing you can’t control. But I am thinking of something else, perhaps your biggest flaw is the inability to see how wonderful you are.

The Brand Attraction Phenomenon

Everyone wants a “list.” A list of fans, a list of followers, a list of subscribers, or a list of customers. The “money” we are told is in the list.

BUT, when it comes to the internet and the social networks, the money is not in the list, it’s always in the “BRAND” that you are building.

Numbers of Followers and Number of Fans only satisfy the egocentric parts of us, they give us bragging rights but if each person on that list is not “attracted” to your brand or personality, then the “numbers” really mean nothing at all.

You can’t own or control people, with one click they are gone for ever. All you can ever do is invite them to explore the social media you create.

Running out of Ideas

Every blogger, writer, poet or visual artist knows what it’s like to run dry. To feel like they have lost their creative flow and that there are no more good ideas inside their souls.

What do you do when you simply run out of ideas?

There are so many solutions and there are an infinite number of ideas, so don’t be scared. Look outside of yourself for inspiration, read, dream, talk to friends, ask them for random creative suggestions and just begin.

Ideas are free, they are simply a combination of words, situations, characters, objects or scenarios put together in whatever combination you choose.

When I run out of ideas it is because I am becoming far to structured and tight, I need to loosen up and let go of the notion of being right.
