Be Misunderstood

Is Being Misunderstood a bad thing?

Does striving for normality lead you to an opus of ordinary? Is it a fatal mistake to try so hard to be understood and liked by everybody?

We can do this in the way we create a character, write a song or put our words on the page; trying to create through copying and assimilating is a dangerous and deathly thing. We have to go against the grain; forcing our way down a crowded sidewalk of people marching in the opposite direction.

It is not the crazy distinctly unorthodox people who really impact us and force change upon the world one person at a time. Life is found in mystery, truth is uncovered in the subtext of story; in the world of creativity it is infinitely more interesting to be misunderstood.

The Importance of Knowing

KNOWING and being KNOWN, is there a more important concept in our creative lives?

Boredom sets in, when we cease to desire “knowledge.” This can happen in our work, faiths, friendships, marriages and families. Why do we settle for a certain level of knowing, when there is always so much more to know. Stale bread is not good for the soul.

I like to think of life as a “deep never-ending well” of love and joy that I have fallen headlong into; plunging the depths, falling deeper into a never-ending eternal abyss of unceasing life.

There is so more to know and so much more to discover. Why do we stop knowing?

The Music Inside You

Music is inside everyone; I am learning this from my very talented and musical wife. But what if you’ve been told that you are not musical?

Music is more than rhythm, music is more than being able to tap in time or sing in tune. Music isn’t even that thing right at the bottom of your soul. Music is the cry of your heart , music is your SOUL itself.

I feel musical when I walk, when I write, when I act, when I’m with people; music happens when your soul comes alive.

Where is the “Music” in you?

How to find your creative flow

Imagine living for a day fully immersed in the river of your creative flow. Imagine never doubting, never stopping, always believing, always imagining.

I imagine you would feel more like a child than an adult?

What things can you do today to unlock and release all the creative words within you?

What works for you?

Remember as your creativity begins to flow it should make you a better person, not a more selfish one; you will probably find yourself talking to strangers, being more playful and unrestrained. When your creativity flows it bleeds into every area.

Tell your story in a single sentence blog

What is your blog sentence?

Can you some up your own blog, your project, your film, your career, your dream, or your life in a single sentence blog? Sometimes we think that to know ourselves (or our product) is to be able to describe something in great detail, with many articulate words. I don’t believe this is so?

Knowledge that simply comes from the brain is confusing and complex; knowledge that comes from the heart is simple and conveys great knowing.

Before you write anything, try to get your story down to a single sentence. Let this sentence be like a hook or a magnet (not a summary) that authentically draws other “people” into your story.

Practice by writing your story below in a one sentence blog.
