Bullshit leaves a nasty stain…

How do I make you believe something? By telling you the truth. Bullshit leaves a terrible stain, in breeds uncertainty not just in the other person, but also in you.

There is a story in the bible when Jesus meet a young man called Nathanael. Essentially he looks at Nathanael, right at him, right through him and says… “Here is a man about who nothing is false.”

Oh how I long to have the same thing said of me.  You don’t need to shout, coerce, control or manipulate when what you are saying is simply… true.

The Problem with Personality Tests

When Corporations took over the world in the last century something strange happened… the death of the Renaissance Man. When the Renaissance man died the “Specialists” became kings; Corporations are essentially a large gathering of “Specialists” each of whom are given to their own task or area of interest.

The Renaissance man, the person who was subject to no one, the person with a broad skill set, the person who was both creative and logical, spiritual yet realistic, artistic and yet scientific just didn’t fit inside the structure of a corporation. There was no cubicle inside a corporation for our Renaissance man to fit; no box on the Myers-Briggs personality chart for him to tick… so they put him in a different kind of box, he was obsolete, they buried him in that box… and in that box he died.

Think Issac Newton, Da Vinci, Benjamin Franklin… the very fabric of exploration wound through their DNA.

But corporations are dying now, because they haven’t just squashed creativity, they did something much worse… they have tried to manufacture it. Expression, real thoughts, deep questions that burn inside our anarchic souls cannot be restrained inside a cubicle anymore… instead they are buzzing, pulsing, burning all round us as the INTERNET gives birth once again to the Renaissance Man.

A little click can go a long way…

I really need your help… You can help me by clicking on these links and telling all your friends about what I am trying to do here. You can do this through word of mouth, via email, by tweeting this blog or by sharing it on Facebook.

It seems cheeky, weak or even vulnerable to ask for your help in this way. But I need to be humble and admit that I can’t do it on my own… The more people that join this blog, the greater our internet statistics and Facebook memberships that we have the better. It’s a key statistic that will encourage investors to our fantastic project.

And so I humbly request your help…

You help me a little… everyone helps me a lot!

We often don’t realize how much we can help each other, what a huge difference a little act of kindness or generosity can make.

This reality is amplified, when collective acts of kindness are multiplied exponentially together in the context of healthy community. If 10 of your closest friends simply smiled at you everyday, you would probably feel like a million dollars when your head hit the pillow every night.

It’s the constant encouragement and support from friends and blog readers that keeps me believing in my film-making journey, all those individual words of encouragement create a massive drive to succeed. Corporations, Coaches, Managers and Mentors are not a healthy necessity, what we really need is a community of friends; believing, helping and sharing life together. The Internet is an ideal vehicle for connecting all of us together; creating communities of nurture and support, that move beyond the screen into real relationships, real events, real projects and genuine encouragement and support.

Of course the reality is, many of us are tempted to remain isolated, to keep control and to make it on our own… which is why we don’t feel like a million dollars when our head hits the pillow each night.

So do you want to know the future…

Transmedia Storytelling is coming, and it is rushing towards us like a tidal wave.

Transmedia is the telling of a story across a variety of genres and platforms. This used to be a more difficult, because although several different platforms have existed for some time (Television drama, Documentary, Feature Film and Internet Video) accessibility, interactivity and sharing took too much effort. But the territory has shifted significantly in the past 3-4 years.

Bandwidth improvements, computer prices, and most importantly the huge growth of the social networks have connected filmmakers to their audiences and the audience members to each other, in a fashion that we have never experienced or seen before.

It’s a brave new world where an innate understanding of people and story will soon become Paramount (literally); the temptation for many will be to make it all about technology but nothing could be further from the truth… it will be all about people and relationships.

For yourself or for your audience?

Should an artist create primarily for themselves or for their own audience? This is an important question for song writers, screenwriters and authors. Perhaps this question translates across into other endeavors including businesses and churches etc.

It can appear selfish to create primarily for yourself and it can seem like a giant leap to assume that you know exactly what the audience (your market) needs or wants. Maybe it is the posture of the “creatives heart” that defines the significance of the work?

The artist must delve into their own life, honestly exploring his/her impulses and attitudes, but at the same time their desire must be to communicate “themselves” to their audience, whom they would do well to consider as their “friends” rather than their market.

The days of mass marketing assumptions in creativity are swiftly coming to an end… but that is just my opinion.

7 Reasons to Invest In Lucky & Rich

  • Lucky & Rich is a funny, irreverent, poignant romantic thriller, its universal themes of forgiveness and regret will touch viewers from all walks of life, and every strata of society right around the globe.
  • Less funding is now available for what was a booming independent film market, fewer Independent Films are being made and so demand is increasing.
  • Commercial and Academy Award success also adds weight to what we are saying here; this year, Crazy Heart, Precious and Hurt Locker were highly successful award winning independent films that studios didn’t want to fund. The previous year, The Wrestler and Slum Dog Millionaire went to head for best picture, both independent films. Audiences everywhere are thirsty for international films with strong messages.
  • Because we have an Innovative Marketing and Distribution Plan that will significantly increase the returns on investment, the Internet and the Social Networks now allow the filmmaker to build an audience online before they sell the film to Distributors.
  • The Investor is investing in both a Feature Film (Lucky & Rich) & a Television Documentary (Street Dog Songs), this spreads the risk and doubles the likelihood of a significant return.
  • You have the opportunity to be involved in a significant story with the ability to touch our core relationships, you will feel good about being involved.
  • In Summary, Lucky & Rich story telling complex is a low film risk, high concept, optimistic and challenging film that will stand out from the crowd. It provides the investor with the opportunity to make both a financial and personally rewarding return on investment.
