Talent is not overrated. Talent matters; a person with a tin ear cannot learn to be a good musician, for instance.

The correct response to “I don’t have the talent” is that talent can be hired.

Hmmm yes this is true… BUT often the converse is also true… someone has the talent but does not want to put in the hard work?

Or has the talent but lacks self-belief

        • http://sevensentences.com/ Geoff Talbot

Sure yes… self belief is a crucial element

Age is not just a number, unless you’re one of those who has refused to learn from experience. Things really do change as one ages, some things for the better, others for the worse.

But age is seldom a valid excuse to refrain from pursuing your passion. If you’re too old to play in the NFL, you’re not too old to coach there, write there, or announce there.

I agree Phil… one should generally get “richer’ with age

This is very good advice. After all, creativity, talent and vision comes from God. If He has blessed someone with talent and innovation, they have everything they need to succeed.
