The Problem With Not Being Playful…

Perhaps you read yesterdays blog and thought that I was been too serious.

Creative people must be playful.

AND to be truly playful you CANNOT take yourself quite so seriously.

Self absorption is a very large wall that inhibits your audience (Friends) from really getting to know you as an artist.

How do you knock down this wall?

There must be grace to fail and you must fail big and often.

We don’t fear walking, we fear falling and this fear can keep us passive and on our knees.

Who’s to say that an artist can’t be truthful AND fun simultaneously? My work is all about fun. I do nothing that is political, that is making grand sweeping mission statements about the state of the world or the human condition. Overall, I draw what I draw in the hopes that someone will find it as fun as I do. I feel like that’s an honest reflection of who I am as an artist, so there you go: Honesty and playfulness all wrapped up together!

It’s true that truthful and playful should coexist together. Great Point Phil!
