Many people grow up with a mistrust or a fear of “actors,” I once met a commercial director who told me, “I just hope they just do their work and move away without hugging me.”
There is also a foolish misconception that they/we cannot be trusted and that we do not who we really are.
Lies, goddamned awful lies created out of a cesspit of misunderstanding and fear.
Actors although often openly troubled (we’re all troubled in some form) are brave, non judgmental souls who are fully in touch with the emotional life inside of them. To avoid the danger of stereotyping, I will insist that this is only true of good actors who search for truth borders on obsession.
A good actor teaches us to be honest, to really listen and to allow ourselves to be deeply affected by the life that is going on around us.
Are you brave enough to let the world see who you are?
