Geoff, I killed my ego years ago; every time it tried to come alive again, I would nip it in the bud. “I can’t” became my mantra. Then I was diagnosed with MS and the realization that if I don’t believe in “I can” and “I will”, there is no way I would become a successful writer. I have limited time; my brain is already suffering from cognitive issues. Now I have a manuscript and am working with a publisher. By the way, I have knitted an donated numerous items over the years and  I give as much as I can. We can’t follow the same drummer, but i’f we’re on the same path, we will reach the same destination.

This sounds like extreme exercises in humility Geoff!  All creativity aside, a lot of this is just about being a good, humble, and generous human being, so it’s good advice for everyone.  Every day, I try (not always successfully) to put myself in another’s place and remind myself that I’m not the center of the universe.
