Delusions of Grandeur

I’m over sixty years old, have left nothing un-chased or unloved. I continue to pursue a career in advertising, marketing, branding, social media — call it whatever makes you feel good — and make a healthy living doing so.

No one promised me that I could be a rock star, do anything I set my mind to or was somehow entitled to huge success merely because I was born. I didn’t always win ribbons, trophies, awards, honors or gold stars — sometimes I lost, stumbled, failed, fell on my face.

I always got up, dusted myself off, started again and gladly paid my dues along the way. I’ve never been afraid of hard work, assumed the world owed me a living, turned my back on education or on-the-job training and never put a title on my business card.

Long before Steve Jobs made the phrase popular, I knew that if I found something I absolutely loved to do I would never work a day in my life.

Geoff… thanks. The battles you win make it all worthwhile. The battles you lose make winning possible.

I think I feel the same way Rick Clark, work is not work when you love what you do. I too have fallen many times but like you I never stay down.

Getting up again is such an empowering feeling isn’t it Karla! I wish Charlie Sheen hadn’t tainted it so much, but… WINNING!
