Define Inspiration

How do you define inspiration? Do you need to define it?

Sometimes we can spend so much time looking for inspiration, that we don’t realize that not only is it right in front of us, but it is right inside of us. Forget perfection, forget craft, forget everything you have ever learned and  just let the inspiration take you where-ever it wants too.

Inspiration can accomplish in a matter of seconds what would may otherwise take a number of years.

If you are looking for writing prompts don’t buy a book, instead look at the chewing gum on the pavement and ask yourself how it got there? The creative soul swims in a sea full of stories, twisting and turning all around us… look and see.

Join the Greed Corp

Don’t march to the beat of a different drum; sign up, sign up and join the greed corp. The color of the paper and the size of the coins may change but greed remains the universal currency of the human soul.

But is greed  a bad thing?

The greatest problem with greed is not that it is inherently selfish and self-seeking. And although greed may make a soul, swollen and fat beyond recognition; this too is only a consequence and not the great problem.

What does greed do to a person’s creativity?

Greed robs and steals our “creative freedom” by chaining the soul to itself; keeping it locked up, turned inwards, regurgitation and showering itself with its own vulgar adulation…

In through the out door

Creative leadership requires a leader to look beyond the glaringly obvious, to look past the predictable and gloriously hyperbolic ‘things” that are usually written on a resume.

Sir Winston Churchill, constantly surrounded himself with insolent, argumentative, free thinking, problematic men because he wanted to be challenged, he wanted people who would never accept the status quo. A creative leader sees the potential in a person that very few other people can see.

With the right skills, you could form an organization  full of miscreants and troublemakers; employing only those who have been recently fired or unemployed for a long period of time. It’s the ill-treated puppy that usually shows a kind new owner the most love.

In through the out door; if you are forming a creative organization; look for those brave souls, whose contempt for the usual and the predictable has already been proven.  Do you agree or disagree?

Kidspiration

Have you ever wondered why children have this incredible ability to create and learn? You and I were once children, when did we stop learning and creating in this free and unhindered fashion? And why?

I call it kidspirationan inspired and free state of trying and failing without a care in the world.

I get blocked creatively when I take myself and my creativity too seriously;  the weight of needing to succeed causes me to freeze up and fail.  Conversely, I get inspired when I don’t give a damn about myself and the opinions of others and I simply play.

Perhaps its time to stop setting goals and to simply enjoy the craft of creating for a while?

Spin Your Web AND Capture Your Audience

There is a creative web that is yours to spin and weave however you choose.

What is this web?

A web in the real world is simply the story that a spider tells. It tells of its journey through time and space. A well spun web is placed across a space where a spiders prey(target) will most likely stumble.

The artist with a love for storytelling can spin and weave the creative words of their choosing across cyberspace.

Choose your space well, connect your creative web to the right places and you will capture your own unique audience.
