So we asked Blaine Hogan, the author of Untitled (a must have e-book for those wanting creative inspiration – click here for Amazon, Itunes and Barnes & Nobles ) the following 3 questions…
1. What role do “secrets” play in the creative process?
If art seeks to tell the truth in and about dark places (and I believe it does), we bring light into this darkness when we tell our secrets to one another.
2. How is truth is storytelling different to preaching or having an agenda?
When I’m preaching with an agenda, regardless if what I’m saying is true, I’m speaking at someone – but when I’m telling a true story, I’m speaking for someone; I’m speaking on their behalf (much more powerful, in my opinion).
3. In your excellent E-Book UNTITLED you describe “art as a confession;” explain?
If confession is about revealing both what we’ve done wrong and what we believe, then our art becomes a means of confession when we show up with both.
