This Dreamer’s Journey

Today’s Guest Post is written by  Lynne Holder; a blogger and regular contributor to Seven Sentences. Lynne writes an inspiring personal blog calledThe Dreamers Journey“. You can also follow her on Twitter (click here).

Dreamers are God’s gift to planet Earth, but the majority of its inhabitants reject them as crazy, irresponsible, childish, fringe people. Truthfully, the naysayers are actually dreamers who have been diverted from their true path into some Matrix-like life that is only an illusion.

This dreamer’s journey has been one that would take an entire book to share all the ups and downs, fantastic wins and devastating losses, but vital to my story, have been people along the way who have helped me find the courage to walk the paths that led to recovering my authentic self and the pursuit of my dreams, whether they were aware of it or not. My spiritual awareness has been sharpened—by those God-sent synchronicities that keep me tracking the right direction.

I’ve also learned the necessity of maintaining an attitude of gratitude, which is so difficult some days; it can be a painful search to find a grateful word to offer up to God. This is really my great shame; to focus on negatives and not shout my gratitude for all I am blessed with, every single day.

With grace and determination, the process of learning and growing toward realizing dreams continues, and more stories for that book are gathered along the way

Not everyone thinks that dreamers are crazy. There are plenty of people wishing us on, wanting to encourage us when we authentically tell our story. Great job lynne

You’re absolutely right, Geoff. Those encouraging people are a blessing. Thank you!

Great post! I love your passion and your writing style. Dreamers are a gift from God, but I’ll add that the most significant gift from God is that He made us all so beautifully different that we would need to rely on each other’s strengths to bolster us in our individual weaknesses. According to youruniquedesign dot com, Dreamers are *actually* a rarity, being 10% of the population. How precious you are, Dreamer! But that also means that there are many others in the world who are being their authentic, God-breathed selves without being a Dreamer. They are fulfilled by numbers, logic, or details, and even though it may not make sense to every other personality type, dreaming may just not give them joy like it does a Dreamer. But that’s wonderful! And you, Dreamer, have the opportunity to pour a little of your passion into their lives while possibly learning a bit from them. So keep dreaming, Dreamer – we need you. We need every person created by God to find their passion and work together to show His love on this Earth.

I totally agree with you, Jennifer. God has made us all beautifully different, and those with a love for numbers, logic, or details amaze me with their abilities. Maybe all people are not dreamers, but all people are creative. Perhaps there is a fine line there, otherwise how would we create if we did not dream?

Interesting statistic that I have not heard before! As you suggest, moving through life with a teachable spirit and collaboration is never a bad idea.

You have given me great food for thought–very insightful, thank you!

      Great comment Jennifer!

  • Jennifer McCalmont

And I guess that previous comment doesn’t count because it’s longer than 7 sentences. Oops! :) That Seven Sentences thing is a TRUE talent!

Your words always count! For an excellent writer such as yourself, it isn’t easy to be limited to 7 sentences! :)

Is it possible to achieve your dream without the encouragement of others?

    • http://thisdreamersjourney-lynne.blogspot.com/ Lynne Holder

My answer to that question is a resounding YES! I have done it, although I admit it would have been nice to have someone for encouragement on that particular path. The naysayers were everywhere, but as I look back, I can understand why. It was a major leap of faith that I doubt many would have taken.

As a Christian I knew I was never alone, and leaned heavily on the spiritual connection with my Source of strength as I made this leap of faith. It wasn’t easy, and there were definitely fearful moments, but I knew in my heart that I was meant to do what I was doing. God is faithful and gave me everything I needed, materially and spiritually.

I feel compelled to share this tidbit I heard today from a message by visiting speaker, Gavin Adams, campus pastor of Watermarke Church; a follow-up to the whole idea of encouragement along the way of pursuing our dreams.

I was working my usual job on the production team as camera 4 operator, so I only heard the last couple minutes of Gavin’s message, but it might have been the best part.

The gist of what he was communicating was that we encounter many fears, and many people who contribute to those fears, while we are on the path we know we’re meant to travel. We don’t have to have the answers to all of those “what-if’s” (read: fears) that try to divert us.

It’s short and simple: Don’t focus on the “what if”, focus on the “Who is”.

Doesn’t that just make you take a deep breath? It’s a great place to be.

Lynn, incredible post. The tagline on my blog is “Your Story Matters…” and you have expressed eloquently how important it is to live, laugh, and love YOUR story.

    • http://thisdreamersjourney-lynne.blogspot.com/ Lynne Holder

Thank you Darren! I like the sound of that tagline–I must visit. It is absolutely true that our stories matter.

I haven’t always loved my story, but I see it as very precious now. How would I have gained what I have without all of those experiences, joyful and painful?
