I’m going to be a daddy

Just to be completely 21st century I am announcing to the world this very good personal news via my blog…

On December 16th, 2011 we are expecting our first child to be born. It is such great news and my wife and I welcome this new addition to our new family with open arms.

Every new life stage brings with it many challenges but also so much reward.

Life is good and the fact that we are going to get to share our love with another little Talbot is going to be so much fun.

I know that I will learn far more from this little bundle of joy than he/she or them (twins?) could ever possibly learn from me.

Life in its essence is creative and so it is with much joy that my wife Athaliah and I announce this good news to you all.

Congratulations to you and your wife, Geoff. God grant healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

There is absolutely nothing that is more joy-filled or demanding or important than being a parent. May God give you wisdom and patience and courage…and may have you have fun.

Parents have only two tasks, really:

    1. To prepare their children for adult living.

    2. Also, though interconnected with the other task, to introduce their children to the God made known to all in Christ.

I have been an imperfect giver of these gifts. But it is deeply moving and gratifying to see my kids (now 29 and 26) setting sail through their lives with Christ by their sides. Anything may come their ways in this imperfect world, but they will be ready for anything…and do it better than I ever have.

    God bless you and yours.
