The top down leadership model is dead. If it’s not dead then it needs to die, it never really worked anyway. It’s just a form of slavery with cash included; it raises people up by pushing others down.
My teacher is Doctor Hollywood, the homeless dude at the end of the free-way off-ramp in Pasadena, he knows more about life, more about people, more about joy in the midst of pain and suffering than you and I could possibly imagine. We want to help him, put him in a home, get him off the streets, make ourselves feel better about ourselves… or we want to ignore him, convinced by our own assumptions that he “really” doesn’t want to be helped at all… Here is the truth…
Top down leadership doesn’t work for Doctor Hollywood and it doesn’t work for me or you… it has failed, that’s why he’s at the end of the free-way and you and I just drive on by.
The way to truly lead is through listening, humility and friendship… avoiding the pungent misnomer that anybody requires our help or our leadership…
P:S: For some reason I feel angry about this… please share your views too…
