More Oil is spilt in Nigeria every year but no one cares…

I have to take a day away from writing about film to concentrate on this oil being spilt in the Gulf of Mexico… Actually I want to leave Gulf and travel thousands of miles across the Atlantic to the Nigerian Delta. Here are some interesting facts…

40 Percent of all US oil importation comes from Nigeria.
More Oil is spilt every year in Nigeria than has been spilt in the Gulf of Mexico.
The life span of the people affected in the rural communities of the Nigerian Delta has fallen to less than forty years.

Is it possible that because this spill happens in African, the oil companies and those with Political Power really don’t care?
