Yesterday was cause for great celebration as I finished what I swear is the final draft on our feature “Lucky & Rich.” I am really happy with it.
I am now adding the final touches to a very innovative storytelling model that surrounds the film, this includes several different web series, a feature length documentary about street people, an interactive online casting show for Scrap (the 3-legged dog) all hosted on a cutting edge video platform. It’s scary trying to do things in a different way, because you know that the status quo is safe and being different is easily misunderstood.
The Internet is changing the face of filmmaking… only a fool will doubt this. It allows the filmmakers to directly engage with their audience in a way that they have never been able too before and this affords them several benefits including an additional distribution vehicle.
It does NOT however mean the annihilation of cinema as we know it, the cinema has a huge role to play in our storytelling future… rather than taking people away from it, the internet has the power to send people back to it.
