Ever met a person who takes a long time to say a very “simple” thing? Have you ever met anybody who can complicate the simplest matter with their magnificent vocabulary… it makes for a very painful dinner time conversation.
I am reminded of this because when you write a film, the simple and economic use of words is vital. I want to make my screenplays easy to read for somebody who knows nothing about film. I want my imagination to simply talk to their imagination as they read my story.
I know someone is truly smart when they can explain something to me in every day language; some of the brightest minds on earth (Einstein, Newton etc) had the ability to communicate very simply
I guess the real question is are we trying to impress, or are we trying to communicate.
