A love poem to Scrap

Well the hunt for the 3-legged dog to star in our film has intensified even further today and photo’s of dogs of all shapes and sizes are beginning to flood my inbox at help.find.scrap@gmail.com

I want to share with you a silly little poem that Rich, our main character drunkenly sang for his canine love on the streets of Prague last night.

Scrap
you make my heart sing
you make everything
groovy

Scrap
you’re the light, that’s in my life
so much better than a bitchy wife
you are… groovy

Scrap
my love, without your leg
you warm my heart
you warm my bed
you are… groovy

So you can see that Scrap means a hell of a lot to Rich and so it’s vitally important that we all try and find him.

Now Scrap has his own blog page and you can find details on our three legged friend and view current casting photos by clicking on…

This is fun… now we are making a film together.

help.find.scrap@gmail.com

Yesterday on twitter people began the search for Scrap; I myself wandered through the roughed up parts of LA late at night shaking a box of dog buscuits and calling out the name of my ficticious buddy… I think that’s when it came to me. What a great social experiment.

Let’s test the theory of six degrees of separation and see if WE all can’t find the right three legged dog to star in our film. Furthermore I will post photos of the possible candiates and you my blog readers can vote and cast the best dog for the role! (We are shooting November or February so there is time for acting training for the successful doggie)

Here is what you can do my friends… cut and paste this short description into your facebook or twitter status. 3 legged dog wanted 4 feature film. Find him on facbk & twittr. Send photos 2 help.find.scrap@gmail.com Info@ www.geofftalbot.wordpress.com

Go on give it a try I reckon we can find him.

Does anyone own a 3 legged dog?

For Lucky & Rich one of the key casting elements involves a worldwide search to find a suitable three legged dog to play Scrap. Scrap is owned by Rich, a homeless New Zealand bum; these two inseparable amigos have been wandering aimlessly across Europe for the past four years.

In my mind Scrap has short hair, kind of gray, thin and with big brown eyes and a long snout; he doesn’t have an eating disorder, he eats all sorts of crap, so anorexic three legged actor dogs need not apply. Possibly he is a Greyhound, Weimaraner, Whippet type cross and he is most definitely a boy dog.

If you know of such an animal and would like to make him a movie star… please, please, please let me know. He would be well looked after in every sense of the word and under constant 24 hour Veterinary supervision.

Speaking of which if you have a four legged dog that fit’s this description and you would like to “slow him down a bit” as a Veterinary surgeon that is something I could also easily arrange.

P:S: Animal lovers in the last sentence I was…joking.

Sulk no more & bring on the French girls

Over the weekend I dressed in black and did not eat; after waking up the neighbours with my early morning fits of shrieks & sobs  it is now safe to say that the grieving period is over and I am ready to date again.

It seems like in business and in life things seldom go to plan… well in my life anyway. Sometimes things turn out much better than you could imagine, then again sometimes they turn out much worse. So what is the point in planning…why bother? I guess you have to point the ship in some kind of direction and start the engine if you want to go anywhere.

Due to the generosity of friends, today I booked my ticket to the Cannes Film Festival. Cannes is also a massive film market and a great place to meet investors, like minded filmmakers and pretty french girls.

I don’t want your twenty million dollars

“I don’t want your twenty million,” was essentially what the email I sent said. Did the money actually exist… who knows?

Arranging a film deal is a very new thing to me and I am the first to admit that I am totally out of my depth. But one thing I’ve learnt, is there is one tool that each of us have in our kit bags when it comes to making deep water decisions and that is our intuition.

When people are being overly secretive; when they are clearly trying to manipulate you into making a fast decision; when they are hugely overstating and exaggerating both what they have done, and who they know and what the future holds; in short when they are talking too much… beware.

Making a film is a long process and involves literally thousands of people; people who are trusting you; they are trusting that you will pay them and they are trusting that the film they are working on will be ‘terrific” and actually get made.

If your intuition says “I don’t trust you”… then maybe you shouldn’t do business together especially if there are other people involved and the price is twenty million.

Seven reasons not to quit…

Seven Reasons not to quit! Thank you for your wonderful messages of support. The following seven sentences have been extracted from comments left on this blog yesterday; they mean the world to me. I will succeed; not because of my talent but because of you.

Maybe this opportunity has passed but they haven’t taken your talent, your passion, your dream or your desire; you will succeed cause of these things and no-one can take them away.

You wouldn’t have gotten this far if you weren’t talented.

You will succeed, its just a matter of relentlessly following it through and not allowing yourself to be distracted by moments of short-term rejection and self-doubt.

I’d wish you luck but you don’t need it… your talent will get you there.

Beyond the old cliches, you do still have your belief and your persistence; great tools and they’re free.

Don’t allow the detours in life to suppress what u know to be true, and that is your work is more than deserving of being recognized and produced.

Don’t give up my friend, you deserve much better and you will find it.

I feel like giving up…

I am pretty sure my film deal will crumble like a deck of cards today. Someone has removed the cornerstone and the building is considerably shaky. I have phone calls to make to confirm the worst and I am putting it off. I am also waiting for a phone call in regards to my other film and I’m pretty sure that it “aint” going to be good news either. So pretty soon I could be back to square one, one guy with two film scripts, a dream and not much else. There is a great cost in chasing your dream, yesterday I was waiting for the bus late at night and I was actually jealous of people who have cars. You want the truth… I’m sitting here with tears rolling down my cheeks, I feel like giving up and going home but I don’t know how…
